Boca Raton mayor set to square off against Moskowitz in battleground Florida House race
Published: 2026-08-21
Rep. Jared Moskowitz (D-Fla.) will face off this fall against Republican Boca Raton Mayor Scott Singer for his toss-up House seat in Florida, according to Decision Desk HQ. Moskowitz won his primary over Oliver Larkin, a progressive union organizer backed by the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) in a race that marked the last congressional primary test for the far-left movement this cycle. Across the aisle, Singer defeated a handful of rival Republicans for the chance to take on Moskowitz this fall in the district that’s now considered a toss-up. He was supported by House Majority Leader Steve Scalise — while President Trump, who has backed candidates in several other Florida House races, stayed out of the primary. The seat was considered solidly Democratic at the start of the year, but shifted to highly competitive territory after the Sunshine State jumped into the mid-decade redistricting war. It now stretches from South Beach to Delray Beach. DDHQ considers the race a toss-up but forecasts that Democrats are narrowly favored to win.
