First lady Melania Trump poked fun at her low profile throughout her husband's second term during a White House event Thursday, making her first major public appearance since mid-July. “Good afternoon,” the first lady greeted press at the White House Rose Garden for an event highlighting her new foster care scholarship initiative. “I heard you missed me. Here I am.” The first lady has not played a prominent role in the second Trump administration, often staying out of the national spotlight. But she took the stage Thursday to announce a new round of scholarships for foster children, in partnership with Fox Corporation and IndyCar — ahead of its upcoming Freedom 250 Grand Prix.
