Secret Service says it's aware of Iranian video threatening Barron Trump

The Secret Service on Tuesday said it was aware of a video threatening President Trump’s son, Barron, being circulated by Iranian state media.  Clips suggest that Iran’s leaders are tracking Barron’s whereabouts and offering a $10 million reward to those who can provide insight into his location, according to reports from ABC News. “The U.S. Secret Service is aware of the video and investigates anything that can be perceived as a threat toward our protectees,” Secret Service spokesperson Nate Herring said in a statement to NewsNation, The Hill’s sister network. “Out of concern for operational security, we do not discuss matters of protective intelligence," Herring added. In previous instances, Iran has circulated videos and statements threatening to kill the president and his family members. The stakes have heightened as the war in Iran nears the six-month mark with no clear end in sight. The Trump administration has waged both military and economic war on Tehran and pushed its leaders to reopen the Strait of Hormuz to commercial traffic. Iran has refused but agreed to work with Oman to open two pathways through the critical waterway for a fee.  Since the U.S. and Israel first struck Iran in February, its leaders have been seeking revenge for the death of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who was killed in the strikes. Iran held a weeklong national ceremony in July to commemorate Khamenei’s life while appointing his son, Mojtaba Khamenei, to serve in his place.…
