UAE says it detected 2 missiles fired from Iran; both fell into water
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) said Tuesday that its armed forces detected two missiles fired from Iran and that both fell into the water. The country’s air defense systems spotted Iranian ballistic missiles. One fell outside of the nation’s territorial waters, and the other fell well within its territorial waters, the UAE’s Defense Ministry said in a statement. “The Ministry of Defence affirms that it remains on high alert and fully prepared to address any threats, and to respond firmly to any attempt aiming to undermine the security of the UAE, in a manner that safeguards its sovereignty, security and stability, and protects its interests and national capabilities,” the ministry said.  Iran’s firing of missiles at the UAE comes as talks between the U.S. and Iran appear to have fallen apart. “There are no talks or conversations going on, or scheduled, with the Islamic Republic of Iran,” President Trump wrote Tuesday morning on Truth Social.  The president doubled down on his calls to annex the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial waterway dividing Iran and Oman, by posting an image of a map with the strait being labeled as a U.S. territory. “We control it with the blockade, and I like the idea of declaring it a territory,” Trump told reporters at the White House on Monday when asked about the waterway.
